Visiting Agent -- Becky Vinter 


Becky's eclectic tastes span the whole spectrum of women's fiction, from literary to "bookclub" to romance of all subgenres. She is also in the market for YA fiction with kick-ass female protagonists and/or a strong romantic or suspenseful hook. In nonfiction, she likes well-crafted narrative nonfiction, including memoir, current events, travel, pop culture, wellness, yoga and food. Becky Vinter began her career in publishing at the Feminist Press in 2006, before moving to NAL/Penguin, where she edited commercial women's fiction. She joined FinePrint Literary Management in 2011 and is currently looking for a range of both fiction and nonfiction projects.

Afternoon Fiction Seminar—Crystal Wilkinson

Crystal is the author of Blackberries, Blackberries and Water Street. Nominated for both the Orange Prize and the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award, she has received recognition from The Kentucky Foundation for Women, The Kentucky Arts Council, The Mary Anderson Center for the Arts, The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and is a recipient of the Chaffin Award for Appalachian Literature. Her short stories, poems and essays have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies. Jim has taught creative writing at Carnegie Mellon University since 1981. Recent books include Having a Little Talk with Capital P PoetryTrigger Man. In 2007, he was awarded the Blue Lynx Poetry Prize for his collection, Revolt of the Crash-Test Dummies. His poems have been featured on Garrison Keillor's "Writer's Almanac," in Billy Collins' Poetry 180 anthologies, and Ted Kooser's "American Life in Poetry" series. He has received the Brittingham Prize for Poetry, two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, and two from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. REMINDER: Second Sunday Free Writers' Workshop on Feb. 12

YELLOW SPRINGS--Antioch Writers' Workshop and Books & Co are offering the next Second Sunday Free Writers' Workshop on February 12, 2:00-3:30 p.m. at Books & Co at The Greene. Select Antioch Writers' Workshop staff, faculty, and trustees will be on hand to give a preview of the upcoming Genre Saturday Seminar (March 31) and the 27th Annual Summer Workshop (July 7-13).

The free session will include information on the application process for a wide variety of scholarships that cover up to as much as the cost of attending. AWW staff, faculty and trustees will be prepared to answer questions about the workshops as well as provide information on the new B.A. in Literature and Creative Writing at Antioch University Midwest (an AWW partner). 

"We're excited to get the word out about the excellent workshops we have coming up this year," said AWW director Sharon Short. "These workshops are ideal opportunities for writers at any stage in the process to work closely with accomplished professionals in the writing world."

Second Sunday Free Writers' Workshop on Feb. 12
