BEAVERCREEK and YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio--Antioch Writers' Workshop and Books & Co are offering the next Free Writers' Workshop on November 10, 2:00-3:30 p.m. at Books & Co at The Greene. Columnist Mary McCarty will help writers tap into experiences that make great stories and that, shared through an essay or memoir, can help readers on their own personal journeys. McCarty will discuss the best ways to craft those experiences into essays or a full-length memoir as well as how to find publishers and readers.
Mary McCarty’s column for the Dayton Daily News appears regularly on the national editorial wire and is widely syndicated through Cox News Service. In addition to column writing, she writes in-depth features and works on special investigative projects. Before coming to the Dayton Daily News, she was a staff writer and senior editor for Cincinnati Magazine. Mary has received many state and national awards for her writing, including the H.L. Mencken Award and being named Writer of the Year for Cox Newspapers. She has twice been named Best Columnist in Ohio by the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists.
