In Your Words: Reflections on 2012 AWW

Today's post about the 2012 Antioch Writers' Workshop comes from one of the Young Writers program participants. In a heartfelt and inspiring post, Marissa details the excitement of being accepted and her reflections on the program:

I cried even harder when I got an email at midnight that said “Congratulations! You have been selected as a participant in the Antioch Writers’ Workshop Young Writers’ Program!” I also screamed, and danced, and accidentally woke up my mother.

I cried because I finally had the opportunity to fit in somewhere, even if my family couldn’t technically afford it. I had a choice: I could replace my dying iPod, get new clothes in the fall and winter, or go to Antioch.

In Your Words: Reflections on 2012 AWW

In this week's first post about the 2012 Antioch Writers' Workshop, Betty Crumrine Scholarship winner Carrie Herzner posts on her blog, Goats Eat Paper. The post, "Please Remove Your Hats at the Door - A Reflection on the Antioch Writers' Workshop," chronicles Carrie's journey to the workshop and back.

No, Antioch, it was an honor and delight to have you believe in me. (READ)

In Your Words: Reflections on 2012 AWW

We're back with more from Antioch Writers' Workshop participants. Check out this post, "Summer writing musings" on Katherine M. Hart's blog. Katherine writes about her experience at this year's summer workshop and working with faculty member, Crystal Wilkinson. Here's a taste:

I spent a week at the Antioch Writers’ Workshop, which I consider another “home.” It was six years ago when I first attended that workshop as a shy, young-ish writer... Yet, coming back to Antioch, I felt empowered and recharged. I felt like a real writer. Surrounded by fellow writers, I drew strength from the creative energy buzzing through the campus.(cont.)
